DUE NEXT WEEK: July 31, 2024 FSS Mandatory Online Training
The deadline to take the mandatory FSS online training, July 31, 2024, is now a week away!
At least one person from every FSS program, PBRA or PHA, funded or unfunded, is required to complete the training by the deadline of July 31. Please keep documentation of your training completion on file at your agency. Documentation could include your transcript on HUD Exchange, a screenshot or print-out showing your course completion, or your certificate or "badge" from HUD Exchange.
Please note that we will not be able to respond to requests to confirm that individuals or organizations have completed their training. The record on an individual's HUD Exchange transcript that they have completed the training is confirmation that you have met the requirement.
Which staff member should complete the training? This person should ideally be the FSS Coordinator, but if that person is not able to complete the training, then it should be a person who works with residents who will be participating in FSS. If the implementation of the FSS program is contracted out, a staff person from the PHA or PBRA owner must complete the training because they are ultimately responsible for the operation of the program.
This training is required even if you completed the old HUD FSS online training and/or any training or certification from a third party such as Nan McKay or NAHRO.
Are there specific instructions for PBRA properties? For PBRA properties, the requirement is that one person from each grant completes the training. When you register with HUD Exchange to take the training, please include the name of the owner entity as written on your application in the "Organization" field and choose "NPFP" as the "Org Type".
If you have already taken the training and did not complete these fields in this way, that is okay! Please keep documentation of your course completion on file so that if asked, you can verify that you met the requirement.
How do I access the training, and how long will it take to complete? If you do not have one yet, you will be prompted to set up a HUD Exchange account in order to access the training. The FSS online training will take about 6-8 hours to complete. You will be able to stop and start the training as you wish, but your progress will not be noted. You will need to find your own place and continue.
The training is followed by a quiz to test what you've learned. In order for your course completion to count, you must pass the quiz with a score of at least 85%.
I'm having trouble accessing the quiz. Are there more detailed instructions I can follow? Once you have completed the training, please click on the Activity Module, which will direct you to the FSS Training Activity Module in a separate tab. Once you have clicked through the training, go back to the FSS Training page on HUD Exchange Learn and mark yourself as complete. Do not close the Activity Module tab; keep it open when you click on the activity URL tab. If you've already gone through the training, know that simply opening up the Go to Activity URL page will allow you to go to where you need to go.
Grantees that do not complete the training by the deadline of July 31, 2024 may have their current grant suspended until they are in compliance.
Thank you for fulfilling this important training requirement!
