Progress Energy Provides Energy Efficiency Services to Multifamily Owner/Agents

June 08, 2009

In an effort to increase energy efficiency in multifamily housing projects, many utility companies offer free inspection services, and rebates and/or incentives to replace less efficient products with products that can lower energy bills and make residential living space more comfortable.   HUD strongly encourages owners and management agents to contact their local utility company to determine what services are available.  Some upgrades might be covered expenses under HUD’s new Green Retrofit Program (HUD Notice 09-02), and some may be eligible Reserve for Replacement items.

In the first of what HUD hopes will become an on-going source of information on specific energy resources available in the State of Florida, HUD is highlighting Progress Energy Florida, Inc. (Progress Energy).  Progress Energy has a variety of programs it offers to multifamily complexes with individually metered apartment units located within the geographic areas it serves.  Upon request, Progress Energy staff will visit your complex, assess energy needs, make recommendations regarding maximizing energy efficiency, and provide information regarding available incentives and rebates.   Additionally, Progress Energy can provide training on energy conservation to your tenants.  For information on specific services available through Progress Energy, you should contact Ms. Claudia Fredette, Energy Efficiency Advisor/Multifamily Project Manager at (727) 409-6376 or Claudia.fredette@pgnmail.com.”
